The Alabama Dam Security and Safety Initiative describes the effort to establish dam safety laws and regulations in Alabama.

State Dam Loan/Grant Funding Program  

Alabama does not have a funding program to assist dam owners with repair, abandonment, or removal of dams. 
 

 
Pending Legislation: 

HB 454: Alabama Dam Inventory and Classification Act

Filed by Rep. Randy Wood (R-Anniston) in February 2008, HB 454 would establish an inventory of the state's dams. Co-sponsors are state Reps. Greg Canfield, R-Vestavia Hills, Mac McCutcheon, R-Capshaw, Richard Laird, D-Roanoke, Duwayne Bridges, R-Valley, and Lea Fite, D-Jacksonville.  The bill was assigned to the House Commerce Committee on Feb. 14. A public hearing was held March 12.  Contact Alabama Representatives.
