ASDSO Recognizes Oroville Dam Efforts

02/16/17

Our thoughts are with those in and around Oroville, CA and the experts working on the Oroville Dam spillways repair project. Read more about dam safety here.

The Association of State Dam Safety Officials (ASDSO) wants to recognize the California Department of Water Resources, the California Division of Safety of Dams, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the US Army Corps of Engineers, the US Bureau of Reclamation and PG&E for their efforts to maintain the safety of the dam and spillway at Oroville Dam. Thanks to their diligence, the spillway instability was noticed quickly and is being addressed to hopefully prevent the development of more serious problems. Their actions illustrate the importance of routine observation and inspection of dams by the owners, operators and regulators in helping to ensure the continued safety of our nation’s dams.
