Job Description: This position performs engineering and related technical assignments under direct supervision of the Executive Director or her designee.  Using prescribed methods, performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment for an experienced civil engineer or as part of ongoing Authority technical work while developing professional work knowledge, skills and abilities. Receives specific supervision and guidance on Authority policies, application of engineering skills, technical investigations, coordination with state, federal and interstate agencies and key stakeholders and overall mission of Authority.  Gains familiarity with Authority operations and functions of Authority and technical issues related to the Colorado River system in Utah, the Upper Colorado River Basin and generally within the Colorado River Basin.  Common tasks performed include without limitation data gathering and input, collection of information and documents, development of spreadsheets, report preparation, development and management of computer forecasting and accounting models, database management, interaction with staff, and participation in planning or staff meetings. Job Title: Dam Safety Engineer 1 (Job ID 124844)

Location: Albuquerque, NM

Job Description: The purpose of this position is to provide engineering support to the Dam Safety Bureau and the New Mexico Office of the State Engineer. The person in this position will perform field inspections, review technical documents, and prepare written communication, perform hydrologic and geotechnical analyses, perform project management, and develop other technical work products.  Her/His work will assist the Dam Safety Bureau to regulate dams in New Mexico to ensure that they are constructed and operated in a manner that is as safe as possible.

Minimum qualifications: 

  • Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant engineering discipline with licensure and four (4) years of engineering experience.
  • Must be certified by the NMBLPEPS or have the ability to obtain reciprocity as a Licensed Professional Engineer in good standing.  
  • The person in this position is required to drive a state vehicle and will need to obtain and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver’s License.
