One of the most important components of dam safety is owner education. Through education, owners can take steps to reduce the likelihood of incidents and failures, reduce their own liability, improve dam safety, and help reduce the risk to communities.
To make accessing guidance information easy and to support owner outreach efforts, ASDSO maintains a booklet of fact sheets on specific issues many dam owners face. These fact sheets are a free resource for owners and those conducting owner outreach programs.
In 2022, ASDSO released three additional dam owner fact sheets. These fact sheets provide guidance on concrete gravity dam failures, dam removal, and public safety at dams. They are available as a printer-friendly PDF or as a webpage. ASDSO has also compiled all developed fact sheets into one complete fact sheet booklet.
